I love my t3i.
it was a tough one to buy, to get myself to do the deed, hit the order bottom and commit to this camera.
I'm a Coke guy, canon comes off, to me, like pepsi. not quite as cool as Coke, nerdish.
and then in the Canon community, the aloofishness, of the 5d, of the big, chunky full size mega cameras, real Photographers, they look down at my toy.
with its clunky to use focus/user setting dial.
This dial it don't bother me, I shoot full manual mode, you know, like a photographer.
and then a lot of talk to push, to sell this camera, is in its "art" modes, its helpfulness modes.
I don't need art modes, I leave that for the apps in my camera phone.
and if you get a camera, figure out how it works, and work it. Don't let the camera work you.
If canon wants to end the making of the t3i model, I'd make a suggestion on how to replace it, how to make a model to fills its place.
What I like about the t3i, its small, very light, takes great shots. Yep, Takes, Great Shots.
if you don't have a camera with you, you miss the chance to pull the trigger, then you've got nothing.
its cheapish in price, I'm am not to concerned about its abuse, making me want to have it with me.
The big cameras they have their place, like the hummer. and I hope soon that I can step up and get myself a full size guzzler, but for everyday use, and prepping ideas, and thinking, just shooting, I like the t3i.
and the camera I want, just a black rectangle thing, which you put a lens on, a simple dial that you set your functions on, like shutter speed, iso,.... you know the things that matter about how the picture looks. I want a nice and quick white balance control, something you just point at white and set, so you can quickly store your white balance (s). I like the lcd swivel screen. Not a mirrorless contraption, use the same inners and electronics, same crop sensor lens.
Make a classic, good, 35mm filmish styled camera.
something the nerds would feel cool with, when they pull it outta there $200 camera bag that looks like it came from the army surplus store. make it sturdy, and keep it in the $500 price range.
just call it the Canon r. you know like the Nikon f.
cheers, d.

thunk
well, we've got a look, this digital age, and I'm sucked into it, I like the look of it.
I sat for 3 days and then just hit the buy, got the Bower 85mm (on the crop sensor 125ishmm) 1.4 lens. Old school, like I like it like me, Manual Focus!
I like this lens a lot, just gotta be careful stepping backwards when I'm trying to frame up. Off a curb or a cliff.
and a nice shot on the street, I was about 15-20 feet away. The 1.4 really makes using the lights that are there, and putting the subject matter in a nice pool, quite possible, getting a good frame. I like the nice drop off in blur as in the depth of field, subtle.
can't wait to shoot some concert stuff. cheers, david.

| some flowers, right outta the box and the lens just slapped on the camera |
out to dinner, my wife is getting use to me, taking the camera, and taking pictures
she thinks its better then me checking things on my phone, while we eat, at least.
This was as close as I could get, for shallow focus. Just getting the whole head in the shot.

homie
I might sound a bit stupid, but its taken me a while to understand, to shoot, things that are in my life. Closer to home. Our yard is full of flowers, mostly unkempt, blooming, and growing sorta on their own. We plant and water and weed a bit, but the less formal, and more natural, the better.
shoot close to home,.... its probably where your heart is, your family, pets, plants, your walls, structure, food...
things that mean something to only you, that you'll want to remember

Hot Load
I won't say hate, as much as dislike would do when it comes to over-processed phone pics, but if you haven't been to the plane next to the PA Academy of Fine Arts, you need to go. I was at the PA convention center for the Food and Farm show, I looked down the alley and saw this wonderful airplane now turned into a green house. It's right off of Broad where the extension to the Convention Center is. Go now! Go!

window
the Window was open for me last Monday. A day off, home from travel to ride in Wva, and a day before I headed out to work shooting video in steal mills. I took advantage, went straight back to the walk way. This walk, its, I think, of how I put the facts together, is from the 1876 centennial fair held in Philadelphia.
It was windy, no clouds, and the flowers were a bit less pink
I wanted to re-capture the past, to improve on the photo I took here a couple of years ago, but as it stands, the simple spur of the moment, that I snapped with a camera in my phone, is still the best.
and in the end the photo that I'll take with me, outta this batch, is just the one that connects me to the blossoms.
I turned back, as I was searching for a shot, and just snapped my car, that's the one I like.
Cheers, dlowe.
just a bunch of pictures of pretty flowers....

time
the buds are popping open, a few years ago, on a ride, just by chance, I stopped and took this.
I'd like another chance to capture this brief period. I went last Sunday to see how the trees looked, not even close to blooming.
I tried a number of lens, and exposures, but ended up just messing about with it in post.
I like what I'm learning, in what changing the color values, and then moving to desatirizing, then finding the right tone, makes ... How the picture feels, a bit of mood.
I'm not sure if the timing is going to work-out right this year, and the subject, I don't have any control on how it looks, I just have to show up at the right time.
what do I know? I shot the first color blooming photo from the other end of the row, than the end where the b/w's were taken. That a clear sky, is not good. I might have to go up, to shot down more, to lose the sky. the time of day to shoot?
the row is north to south so I get two chances, if I get a chance, the morning and the afternoon.
well see.
cheers, dlowe.
